Day 02: Arusha to Lake Manyara

Today you travel to Lake Manyara National Park. This amazing park spans 50 km along the base of the rift Valley escarpment. Lake Manyara is home to many of the African species that you would expect to view. Day 03: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you’ll travel to Olduvai Gorge where you will have an opportunity to visit the famous museum which features anthropological evidence as to the Gorge being cradle of mankind with its discovery of some of the earliest fossils ever found. Time permitting, you may have the opportunity of visiting a Masai village, before entering into the Serengeti National Park and taking a slow game drive to your hotel at the Serengeti Serena Lodge.  [B, L, D]

Day 04: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Serengeti National Park on either a morning and afternoon game drive, or both. The Serengeti is famous for being one of the largest and most famous migrations in the world. This is a sight to behold with millions of wildebeest and zebra constantly moving in a circular direction in search of green grass. Everyone that has seen this migration is totally amazed at the scale of this constant movement and the Serengeti National Park and the Masai Mara Game Reserve are two of the best places for you to view.

Because nature and rainfall determine whether you get to see the amazing migratory pattern, you may not get to see the full impact of this amazing sight however the local wildlife still is some of best game viewing anywhere. This includes wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, elephants, and numerous, gazelle and antelope species as well as an incredible array of birdlife that will keep the most avid of nature-watchers constantly amazed at the vibrancy and variety. Tonight you’ll sleep at the Serengeti Serena lodge. [B, L, D]

Day 5: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

Check out of the lodge after breakfast and continue on a game drive through the Serengeti, before stopping for a picnic lunch. After lunch you’ll make your way to the Ngorongoro conservation area passing through numerous Masai villages before finally arriving at our hotel, the Ngorongoro Serena lodge. [B, L, D]

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater

Because the authorities don’t allow any visitors to stay more than 6 hours within the crater, you’ll take the steep descent into the crater and check out this amazing ecosystem and spend as much time as enjoying the Crater’s wildlife as possible. After a picnic lunch it will be a quick exit from the crater to visit a Masai village, before heading back to the hote at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge.

The Ngorongoro crater is a collapsed volcano, formed around 2.5 million years ago. This area is home to approx. 25,000 large mammals has is believed to support one of  the highest concentrations of lions anywhere in the world. [B, L, D]

Day 7: Lake Manyara to Arusha to Zanzibar

After breakfast, you’ll back to Arusha arriving around midday in time to board your flight to Zanzibar. Once in Zanzibar you’ll be met by your guide who will transfer you to your beach resort on the East Coast, staying at either Sea Cliff Hotel or Karafuu Beach Resort. [B, D]
